What we collect
If you use the intake form we collect your name, phone number, email address, the type of matter, the date it happened, and whatever description you choose to give us. If you phone or email us we collect what you tell us.
If you ask one of the tools to email you its results, we collect the address you enter and a copy of the figures that tool worked out from what you typed into it. We send that copy to you and it also reaches our inbox. We will only contact you about it if you ticked the box asking us to, and you can tell us to stop at any time.
We do not ask for confidential details through the form and we ask you not to send them until we have confirmed we can act for you.
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use this site, through heatmaps and recordings of clicks, scrolling and page movement, so we can make it easier to use. Anything you type into a form is masked and is never recorded. Clarity uses cookies and similar technology; Microsoft processes this data under its own privacy statement at privacy.microsoft.com.
Why we collect it
To assess whether we can help, to check for conflicts of interest, and to contact you back. Nothing else.
Who sees it
Our own staff and lawyers. Form submissions are delivered to us by a third-party form service purely to transport the message to our inbox. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become files are kept only as long as needed to run a conflict check and then disposed of securely. Client files are kept for the period required by the Law Society of Ontario.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete an enquiry that did not become a file. Contact us using the details on this site.
